EPIC Community Services is pleased to offer a free parenting program designed to keep healthy families healthy. EPIC’s experience working with families has shown that as children become adolescents, many parents become less confident in their parenting and feel anxious about keeping their children safe from the many negative influences in today’s culture. That is where “Parent to Parent” comes in.
“Parent to Parent” is a nationally recognized video-based program that empowers and enables parents. It is designed for all types of parents with various ages of children and adolescents and helps parents have the courage and knowledge to put themselves between their kids and the culture of sex, drugs and violence.
Substance abuse prevention is critical for children and adolescents in St. Johns County and EPIC wants to help parents understand that they are the most important defense against their children becoming involved with substance abuse. “When it comes to preventing children from engaging in dangerous behaviors, such as drug use, a trained and motivated parent is the greatest prevention program ever invented.”
Open enrollment classes are held each Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the EPIC Center (1400 Old Dixie Hwy.) Classes can also be scheduled at other times and venues, including businesses, churches, neighborhood community centers and even private homes. “Parents who have already been through the program tell us they felt more confident and learned more strategies to protect their children. We are really excited about this opportunity for parents,” says Teresa Andrews, Director of Community Services for EPIC.
There is no charge to participate in “Parent to Parent.” For more information or to take part of this amazing opportunity, please contact Teresa Andrews at (904) 829-2273.
