St. Augustine, Fl – April is the time to celebrate ‘food, flowers & fun’ in St. Augustine with three different activities organized by EPIC Community Services.  These events are one of St. Augustine’s most popular traditions. 

April kicks off with “An Evening with EPIC Chefs – Cruisin’ the Latin Riviera” taking place at the Serenata Beach Club on Thursday, April 10 at 6:00 pm.  Prominent chefs from Serenata Beach Club, A1A Ale Works, Old City House Inn & Restaurant and Raintree Restaurant will offer delicious Latin cuisine.  Unique silent and live auctions and the live music of “Strings of Fire” will add to the excitement.  Tickets are $50 and reservations are required.

Next, enjoy a gardening extravaganza with the 13th Annual Flower & Garden Expo taking place Saturday, April 19 from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, April 20 from 10am to 4pm at the St. Johns County Agricultural Center.  During the Expo, a wide variety of growers, nurseries, artisans and crafters will display and sell their products.  The Garden Club of St. Augustine will offer the “Life’s a Beach” Flower & Horticulture Show and the St. Augustine Piece Makers Guild will offer the “Natural Wonders” Quilt Show.  Lectures will take place both days including a keynote speaker on Saturday from EPCOT’s Horticultural Division.  The 2nd Annual “Brunch in the Garden” will take place on Sunday at 8:30 am and is being catered by Raintree Restaurant.  General admission to the Expo is $5 and is good for both days, children under 12 are admitted free.  Admission to the “Brunch” is $25 per person and includes Expo admission.  Reservations are required for the Brunch.

The grand finale is the ever popular “A Taste of St. Augustine with the Birth of the Blues Music Festival”.  St. Augustine is well-known for its great restaurants and they are on display during “A Taste of St. Augustine”.  In its 12th year, this event takes place Saturday, April 26 from 12 noon to 9pm.  Over 30 restaurants offer samples of their signature dishes while competing for the prestigious T.O.St.A. (Taste of St. Augustine) Awards in the areas of Best Family Dining, Best Ethnic Taste, Best Upscale Taste, Best Dessert and the People’s Choice Award.  The Birth of the Blues Music Festival will feature local and regional Blues artists performing live all day.  There is a $3 admission charge and taste tickets are $1 each with restaurants charging between 1 and 5 tickets for their dish.
