St. Augustine, Fl – The 14th Annual Tips for Kids Sake will provide an opportunity to enjoy a great dinner, be entertained and support a good cause, all at the same time. Over 130 local Celebrities are volunteering their time for this annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County. This ever popular event places Celebrity Waiters at restaurants where they wait tables and all their tips go to Big Brothers Big Sisters. This year’s event is being hosted by 16 restaurants and takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Local Celebrities will be recruiting their family, friends and colleagues to come and sit in their section during Tips for Kids Sake. “Tips is always such a fun time,” says Teresa Andrews, Director of Community Services, “folks coming to the event not only eat a great meal, they have a great time watching their Celebrity Waiter serve them and have fun giving them a hard time. The entertainment of having a friend or family member as a Celebrity Waiter often provides additional reason to leave a big tip.” Celebrity Waiters are also encouraged to dress in a costume and this year’s theme is “The 70’s”.
This is the 14th year of Tips for Kids Sake. It is the major fundraiser of the year for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County, a program of EPIC Community Services. The money goes to expand mentoring programs throughout St. Johns County. This year’s event is especially important in this economic climate as other funding sources are shrinking. “Even if folks aren’t going out to dinner as much, we hope that they’ll choose to go out to a Tips restaurant knowing that their tip will be supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters” says Andrews.
This year’s participating restaurants are: Aqua Grill and Bogey Grille in Ponte Vedra, Cobblestones at the Creek in the Julington Creek area, Shellfish Grill at World Golf Village and Barnacle Bills Beachside, Barnacle Bills Downtown, Creekside Dinery, Gypsy Bar & Grill, Gypsy Cab Co., Hurricane Grill & Wings, Purple Olive, Raintree Restaurant, Saltwater Cowboy’s, Seafood Kitchen, South Beach Grill and Zhanra’s in St. Augustine.
